Hi all... I am very frustrated as I have a client who has very deep set eyes, and when I tape them and she closes, it is very difficult to get to her lashes on the inner and outer corners...they almost disappear and I cannot get to them....any tips or help? Laura www.aphroditessalon.com

Hi Laura
I get the same with some of my clients and I find it annoying when they close their eyes the lashes bunch, cross over and generally misbehave!
I find that taping the lashes as straight as possible helps, almost stretching the bottom lid out from the deep set.

I have a client with VERY deep set eyes and I must admit they are a challenge! Firstly I only use the Nexcare tape on everyone, including the deep set eye gals. The trick is not to put the tape over to close. Try cutting the tape into 2 strips and cross over in the middle, so that you can angle the tape. I place the tape across the inner eye first and the second tape from the middle to the outer eye. I then ask the client to gently close her eye and check that the tape is not pushing or covering the outer corner before I let it go and stick it down.
Sometimes stretching the bottom lid, gives you a false impression of where the tape is acturally sitting - when you release it. I don't pull the bottom eyelid anymore, unless I'm using the eyepads.

I find the Nextape quite thick and when the client has small deep set eyes I find it hard to use, compared to the 3M tape.
Will try your tip Tami as I seem to get alot of girls with this eye shape.

Hi all ...thanks for your responses....Tami, what do you mean by not pulling the tape too close? I am going to try the foam tape as I have been having problems with fuzzies getting stuck....any other tips?

Hi Aphrodite, Try using some tape across the lashline on the eyepad. Then cut around the eyepad with a small pair of scissors to the shape of the eyepad. You can prepare these in advance.
When applying tape or eyepads, neither should touch the wet pink part of the clients lower lid. If the clients eyes water it will create problems with the eyepad gel leaking into the eyes and irritating the client. And also making her eyes VERY bloodshot. If either tape or eyepad is up too close to the eye, it changes the way the upper lashes normally sit.

Hi Tami.... I am afraid it will make things worse if I double up with an eyepad AND tape....maybe I should just use the foam tape without an eyepad???..... Fran, can you explain how you stretch the lower lid a bit for deep set eyes? Sorry to be such a pain but this is a real challenge for me... Laura www.aphroditessalon.com

Aphrodite, Here's something that I don't think has been mentioned that I do. If I'm having a hard time I will take a peice of paper tape and very gently pull up on the eyelid causing the lashes to pop upward. You have to be very careful not to tap ethe eye open. With some practice you can find the best tension for each client.
I practiced this on a few (freind/clients) before I tried it on paying customers.

I use to use the paper tape on the eyepads and didn't think it was too thick. That is what I use to use. Now I'm using the Nexcare tape only with a bit of Jojoba oil on the clients skin before I apply it.
