Hi everyone! I would like some advice about clients who pick at their extensions. I had a client today who came in for her 3 week refill but only had about 30% of her lashes still on. She did admit to me that she picked at them last night knowing that she was going to be seeing me today. It took me 2 & 1/2 hrs to do her refill and I only got $40 for it because this is what I quoted her as the price of refills prior to her appointment. $40 is the going rate in our area for refills, however because it took me so long to get her lashes looking great again, I'm working for less than $20 an hour! Other clients I have usually have most of their extensions still on so I know that I am using the right amount of glue! During the refill on this client, I used mostly 0.15 thickness and only used 0.2 as bones. I'm hoping the thinner extensions will help prevent her from picking at them as much!! I would love some advice by other lash stylists on what they do in similar situations and what they charge, how do they explain the price to their clients etc. Thank you!!

I understand exactly how you feel This use to happen to me when I was a newbie at doing lashes. After I got busy doing lashes all day, every hour counted and those sort of clients infuriated me because I wasn't able to put quality work into my lashes due to self inflicted 'pickers' damage Mascara that they would wear to appointments OR those clients that just couldn't help but be running late almost every appointment. My opinion is based on running a salon, where every second counts. Having the luxury of doing a 2 hour refill for $40.00 beyond acceptable....time or profit wise. What I have done in the past is Charge her for: 1. a full-set price or 2. another refill that same week. They usually stop when they realise their habit costs money. Otherwise, you can advise them that their natural lashes will get thinner or stop growing back

Thank you for replying Tami and your advice! I really appreciate it The same client came back again this week for her refill. She had more extensions on than the last refill but still had less than half on! She said she didn't pick at them this time but I'm not so sure!! She also has very curly thin lashes so I'm not sure if this could be why extensions don't last as long on her? Do you think this is a reason? I am using B curls on her but was thinking about using a C curl next time! Also, I find some clients try to blame their loss on me as though it's my fault that they have lost so many. I don't really know what to say to these clients because most of my other clients still have heaps of lashes on when they see me for a refill! I try and explain to them that pulling, picking, being rough with them, using oil-based eye make-up and removers etc can cause excessive loss but they deny doing any of these things so I am a bit baffled as to why!! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi You might also try the Cressant lashes that seemed to stop mine from picking.
