Hi I am new to lashing and have been taught to use about 3 different sizes per set with say 8's in the inner eye 10's for the middle third and 12's for thew outer third. Does everyone apply this way or is there a way to evenly place the lashes for a more even and maybe natural appearance?

It was hard enough to learn the application and master the technique, and now you have stumbled onto Lash Design! lol.. welcome to the fun.
Seriously, there is no right or wrong when it comes to design. The most important thing is not to over burdeon the natural lash with too much weight and ensuring that you have a good bond at the BASE. As a general rule, I don't lengthen the natural lash with an extension that is more than 1/3 longer. And if I do need to over lengthen the natural lash up 100% longer, I will drop down in the thickness to avoid the additional weight.
When I do a full set, I use 6-7 different lengths. Obviously the shorter ones in the inner eye and the longer ones on the outer eye. But if I find a short lash in the outer eye, I will still lash it with a shorter extension, regardless where it is. Buy mixing up your lengths throughout, you create a more natural fluffy look. There really is no right or wrong with lash design....its personal preference. But it is your choices that give you a creative edge and your own signature styling.
Play around with different lengths to suit the client and the health of her lashes...and see what you think looks best. We all apply different lengths according to what we think looks good. There is no right or wrong as the styling is as unique, as each of us.
Enjoy experimenting and have fun with your creative flair!!!
