Wow ~ lots of great information on this board ~ so great for a newbie like me to be able to come and get the experience and knowledge of lashers who know . I am really very new to this and will go for my certification on Wednesday ~ just a little nervous:)
Anyway I have been practicing on my volunteers ~ I love my family, eyes from 21 - 82 years old have sat in my chair to be lashed! Definitely have come across some challenges and am hoping you can help me out.
My daughter, who was one of the first that I lashed and comes in on a weekly basis for her mom to practice on, has lots of lashes stuck together. At first I thought it was because she was one of my first sets and I wasn't allowing enough drying time before moving on and they were getting stuck together, so have been taking extra care and allowing for extra drying time AND puffing about 20 times/lash but am still having a problem with sticky, almost gunky lashes. I read somewhere that MAC make up is not good for eyelash extensions and that is the type of makeup she uses, does anyone know anything about MAC?
Also my mom who is 82 ~ god love her she looks great in her lashes:) ~ I do have a challenge with her eyes and eyelids that are not exactly firm and taught:). I have tried taping up her lids with 3M tape yesterday but it didn't work out that well. I detacked the tape on the back of my hand (as you can imagine she has quite thin skin) and didn't want the tape to pull too much when I removed it, but then it didn't really hold her lid up. Any suggestions?
Last, when I am putting on the lash, I sometimes don't get it close enough to the lash line. I think they are all very close to the lash line until I sit them up and then I can see how I could have done them closer.
So glad I found you all!
