One of my clients complained about stinging eyes half way through the application last night . I have previously applied lashes on her several times before without complaint but that was using a different branded glue. This was the first time I used the Flash Lash glue on her. It was also the first time I used the Q10 Anti Wrinkle gel patches on her. Has anyone had issues with the Flash Lash or Q10 Anti Wrinkle gel patches? I've used both on products on other clients and they didn't have such an issue. I'm thinking she is a once off and I'm siding to more of Q10 Anti Wrinkle gel patches making her eyes sting as it was only the bottom part of her eyes that went red.

Hi Eve, There are THREE issues that is causing this problem 1. the glue fumes 2. the gel from the eyepads went in her eyes 3. the lashes were NOT dried properly before she opened her eyes If the eyepads are placed too close to the wet part of her eyes, they can cause two problems: 1. The eyes can sometimes water and the tears cause the antiwrinkle gel to bubble and leak into the clients eye. This causes redness and irriation. 2. IF the eyepads are placed too high up, they can push up the upper natural lashes and expose the conjunctiva (covering of the white part of the eyeball) to the fumes of the glue. Seriously, this Never happens to me...as I use the Nexcare tape (with a little oil on the skin) to tape down the bottom lashes. This is MY prefered product, but each to their own. If you enjoy the comfort and ease of the eyepads, then you might want to try lowering the eyepad. If any of the lower lashes come out from under it, you can try a stick a piece of Micropore tape onto the eyepad to hold them down. Just make sure you take the Micropore tape off before you remove the eyepads. I have an ELECTRIC desktop size fan clamped onto my Maggi light. I let the clients lashes dry off while I remove the tape, and comb through her lashes. Then by the time I've groomed her and hand her the mirror, her lashes are Completely dry. Hope this helps

Tami,
On a different note; where would you recommend to get the magni lamp from?
Thanks

Thanks Tami, I suspected it may be the gel pads too close to the eyes. Definitely not the fumes as she kept her eyes closed for 10 mins after I finished (while I did her brows). I have both the nexcare tape and micropore, will have to use that for her next time.
I would have put the gel pads too close as she had short asian bottom lashes...

Julie, You can get a maggi lamp from any beauty supplier. Prices and quality vary greatly, depending on the strength of the lens. Most Lash Stylists use the Maggi lamp for lighting purposes only, therefore the lens strength doesn't matter. You can buy ones that fit into the beauty/waxing trolley or you can buy a stand on wheels for it. If you buy a stand, I would strongly suggest you buy one that has alot of weight in the base so that it doesn't tip over easily. Hope this helps?

Eve, There is a thread on this forum that shows how to make eyepads out of the Nexcare tape. Check it out.
