Hi all, I'm extremely new at lash extensions & have only done a few. I've been getting different advice from all directions.
I've been taugh to attach extensions under the natural lash & now am told that I should be attaching extension on top of the natural lash!
Your input would be great. Thanks.

I always apply the lashes on the top, except when I use the C-Curl lashes.

Do you apply the C-curl lashes to the side? Is this to achieve a greater bond. I tend to apply the C-curl on top of the natural lash and provided that they are not too straight they look fine and last as long as the j-curl.

Yes, I aways apply the Cs to the side. I find that if I apply them to the side, the base (shank) doesn't kick up and I get a better bond at the base. It doesn't matter if the natural lash doesn't follow the entire extension. Most of the time only 1/2 the extension is bonded and the natural lash comes away from it, going in its own direction.

Thats right eyecandy. Its more important to secure the base of the extension than the entire length. It prevents the lash from de-bonding and poking the client in the eye. It doesn't really matter where you place the extension - on top, on the side or underneath, so long as you have a good adhesion.
I also apply the Cs on the side. Minks, Rapids and Js on top unless the client has a really damaged, kinked or curly natural lash. The Y's I place ontop also, however if the natural lash is too curly, I place it underneath.

Has anyone had any problems with the client complaining that her lashes are sticking out from the C curls at the top? I was just focusing on the base being attached. But the client has really long super straight lashes, the natural lash tips stick out from the C curl extensions. Any advice or help would be awesome. =)

Hi Em, We all need to get a good bond at the base of the natural lash. Thats why its important to wipe the natural lash from the base to the tip, with glue before you place it. When you Marry the natural and synthetic lash together, you want it to adhere to the entire lash. If the natural lash is pointing in an abnormal direction, then we need to do corrective work. The extension needs to be 'placed and pushed' in the correct direction. Sometimes they split apart the the tip (like a snake tongue), but that's ok. The fact that your client finds this bothers her, means you need to try something different. Natural Straight lashes will always stay straight....So there is nothing you can do about that. You need to work with what you've got The only thing I can suggest is try using B-Curl lashes or J-Curl lashes on this type of client, so the seperation of the two lashes will not be as noticeable to her.
